Someday/Maybe Reading List

I have a challenge for myself this year: read a total of 24 books!

I’m the kind of person who feels incomplete without a book around me. I used to carry paperback books with me, but it was always one at a time. Sometimes, if the book was one of those 900 pages tomes, I wasn’t so eager to carry it around.

But since I got a Kindle, my reading life changed!! My Kindle is a part of my daily possessions, and I open it whenever and wherever I can.

There are months that I find myself reading 2 or 3 books simultaneously. It’s crazy sometimes because there are certain types of books that don’t match together (I mean, in this “simultaneity” scheme).  Like, reading two dark fantasy books together. Not okay. If the genres are too similar, I usually mix them up. It’s better to have contrast: a dark fantasy with maybe a very optimistic science fiction. Or, for instance, one fiction and the other non-fiction.

Anyways, today I stopped to do some math.  I have a list I’ve been keeping for some time now with all the books I want to read one day. It’s not necessarily the goal list for this year, or this month. It’s more like a lifetime list.

So, this list has 196 titles. My 2013 goal is 24 books, so I would probably complete 12% of the list, if I chose to read titles from that list.

BUT, Since I’ve joined book clubs on Goodreads, I have monthly new and interesting suggestions, other than those on my list.

SO, you might be thinking, “it’s insane! You’re never going to finish that!”. Well, that’s the beauty of it, it’s a “someday/maybe” list. I don’t feel obliged to follow it item by item, I use it when I don’t have any idea what to read next. And it’s good to know that there are so many other things to explore! I highly recommend it!

For instance, last year I read only 3 titles from this list, the rest were book clubs picks and friend’s suggestions… 🙂

So, here goes my “someday/maybe” list. Hope you enjoy!
